about the photographer

my work

I photograph people and their spaces.

I have always liked observing people, strangers too. From a brief encounter with them I have had some wonderful but meaningful conversations.

But then again, a conversation with a stranger is easier for me – does that make sense?

creative process

The concept of observing a person through a camera is for me to first put the subject at ease.

I do this by asking them about themselves and then go deeper in a subject that I see them responding to. They smile or start to reflect on that topic.

During this time I am photographing them too.  Its fun!  I see the facial muscles respond to the memory that comes out in this moment. The hands start to be involved too.
For me these are observational portraits
